Central Election Commission starts the courses for the members of lower election commissions

Central Election Commission starts the professional courses on election right for the chairpersons of Constituency Election Commissions relating with the execution of the order by Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “on the approval of National Activity Plan on the protection of human rights in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The goal of conducting the courses on August 23 is the reinforcement of educational affairs in the field of elections related with the execution of the duties undertaken by the Central Election Commission in accordance with the order of Mr. President and development of professional skills of the chairpersons of the Constituency Election Commissions. At the opening meeting of the courses, Mr. Mazahir Panahov, chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mr. Zeynal Nagdaliyev, head of department at the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ziyafet Asgarov, first deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis, Mr. Ali Bilge Jankorel, head of OSCE Baku office and other officials will take part. At the courses to be conducted since August 23 till August 28, Mr. Ferhad Abdullayev, chairman of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Ramiz Rzayev, chairman of Supreme Court, Mr. Ali Hasanov, head of department at the Presidential Administration, Mr. Oruj Zalov, deputy of Internal Affairs Minister, Mr. Rustam Usubov, first deputy of the Republic General Prosecutor’s Office, officials of the Ministry of Justice and the Appeal Court, members and heads of departments at the CEC will read lectures. At the end of the courses, the chairpersons of the Constituency Election Commissions will be submitted certificates.
Since September 1 till September 3, professional courses on election right will be conducted as the following stage of the project for the members of the Constituency Election Commissions and chairpersons of Precinct Election Commissions.
Let’s note that in 2007 and 2009, Central Election Commission conducted professional courses on election right for the members of lower election commissions related with the execution of the above-mentioned order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, too.

Meeting at the Central Election Commission

On August 11, Ambassador Mr. Ali Bilge Cankorel, head of OSCE Baku office met with Chairman Mr. Mazahir Panahov at the Central Election Commission.
At the meeting, exchange of opinions on the cooperation between the Central Election Commission and OSCE was held relating the forthcoming elections. CEC Chairman informed on the ongoing program of educating voters, members of lower election commissions and other persons to participate in the election process and drew the attention to the further intensification of the activities to be undertaken in this field since the second term of August. He stated that during the above-mentioned period, the education programs will be broadcasted in TV relating election right and the materials of this kind will be published in periodicals. Furthermore, professional courses on election right are going to be organized for the members of Constituency and Precinct Election Commissions in accordance with the Order of Mr. President “on the approval of National Activity Plan on the protection of human rights in the Republic of Azerbaijan” in recent days.
At the meeting, discussions on the activities to be taken jointly with OSCE Baku office were also conducted.
